Horseback Riding

Guided Horseback Riding

We believe in providing a different kind of riding experience. This isn’t the ‘nose-to-tail’ riding experience you find in most venues. We’ll teach you the basics of horsemanship from grooming and saddling to how to speak ‘horse’. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can learn how to ride (not just how to stay on). Our horses are thoroughly trained with natural horsemanship principles that make them willing and happy partners, and we pride ourselves on matching the right horse to each rider’s skill level and confidence. Come and experience a true Colorado adventure!

Range Ride 101

For those looking to enjoy a scenic ride through the meadows and see the mountain range on horseback, try our Range Ride 101! This is about a three-hour experience for the folk who want to start with the basics. Children and older folk alike have thoroughly enjoyed this ride. Choose either a morning or afternoon ride. Keep in mind that afternoons in summertime can often be rained out due to thunderstorms during our local monsoon season. $100

Picnic Add-On for Range Ride 101

Add a picnic option to your morning Range Ride 101! Relax in a beautiful aspen grove as we gather around for a delicious lunch. Just the thing after a morning of exercise! This option adds an hour to the Range Ride 101 experience.

NEW OFFERING – Sunset Ride

Watch the sun drop behind jagged 14,000 foot peaks from the back of your horse as you ride through fragrant sage meadows and rustling aspen groves. Lingering clouds light up with color and as dusk falls towering thunderheads to the east flash with distant lightening. This ride ends with a cookout around a bonfire back at the ranch. Starts at 5 pm – Plan for 4 hours.

NEW OFFERING – Rancher’s Ride

Join real ranchers as we do real ranch work! This ride will help you improve your horsemanship skills and learn how to handle cattle. We’ll be doing necessary cattle care from moving cattle to fresh pasture, to counting and inspecting the herd. May include doctoring, finding strays, or any other chores that need doing. Regardless of your experience, our guides are ready to coach you in this endeavor and help progress your horsemanship. Come out for a half-day of riding, learning, and enjoying some beautiful country! Lunches are provided. This is a 5 hour ride. Sign up for the morning shift, afternoon shift, or both! $150

NEW OFFERING – Full Moon Ride

This very special ride only happens once a month from June through October. We start at dusk and watch the moonrise over the Wet Mountains from horseback, followed by a one-of-a-kind ride through the ranch by the light of the moon. Listen to the yipping of the coyotes and the hoot of owls. Call us for scheduling and reservations on this very unique ride.

Roundup!

The 3-Day Roundup only happens once a year around the 20th of September. A selected party of four “guest hands” will help deliver the contracted cattle to the buyer at this time. This interesting operation involves moving the cattle in phases to the shipping pastures and gathering them into the corrals. The cattle are then weighed, brand inspected, and loaded into the semi-trucks. This is the day we learn what our profits for the year really are. It is the culmination of the entire yearling cattle ranching process. For these three days you will be one of the hard working crew, so you will be fed as part of the deal. Reserve YOUR Cow Pony for one of our rides and Create Your Own Western Memories!
